Project Brief

Market: Russia
Project stage: factory visit and technical review completed; equipment contract signed
Equipment: 8 mm copper rod continuous casting and rolling line
Review focus: manufacturing quality, line configuration, product control and project support

On 13 January 2026, a customer delegation from Russia visited our Deyang manufacturing facility to review an 8 mm copper rod continuous casting and rolling project. The visit gave the customer an opportunity to examine manufactured components and discuss how the proposed line would be configured around the customer’s raw material, finished rod requirement and plant conditions. Our engineering and commercial teams worked through the open technical points during the visit, and the parties signed the equipment contract after completing the review.

Reviewing a complete route, not an isolated rolling mill

An 8 mm copper rod line has to keep melting, casting, rolling, cooling and collection at a compatible duty. The furnace route is selected from the feedstock and melt practice. The continuous caster then forms the section supplied to the rolling mill, where successive stands reduce and shape the material before controlled cooling and coiling. A nominal rod diameter alone is therefore not enough to define the line. Material condition, casting section, target output, stand arrangement, cooling-water duty and coil package all influence the final configuration.

During the technical discussions, we explained how these sections are connected and which decisions must be fixed before detailed design. Final selections for the furnace type, production duty and stand arrangement will be completed during detailed engineering, based on the confirmed feedstock, output target and site utilities. The line is being configured for 8 mm copper rod, with the equipment and controls matched to the customer’s operating requirements.

What the factory visit allowed the customer to check

During the factory visit, the delegation examined the manufacturing environment and equipment components at different stages of production. Together, the teams reviewed machining and assembly quality, maintenance access, control interfaces and the practical sequence from manufacture to shipment. They also resolved questions about the finished-rod requirements, control philosophy and project-specific interfaces before the project entered detailed engineering.

With the contract signed, our engineers are now closing the remaining project inputs and translating them into manufacturing documents. These inputs include the feedstock analysis, required output, site voltage and frequency, furnace fuel, cooling-water conditions, plant layout, environmental interfaces, destination standards and the division of work for installation and commissioning. The agreed scope will guide component manufacture, line assembly, pre-shipment checks and delivery preparation in Deyang.

For producers evaluating a new copper rod line, the central decision is not simply the nominal rod diameter. The feedstock, product standard, output target, coil requirement, utilities and plant layout determine how the complete process should be configured. Sharing these inputs at the start allows the technical proposal to address the intended production route and the site where it will operate.
