Commissioning Brief

Location: India

Equipment: Custom copper rolling mill

Delivery: Shipped in November 2025

Status: Site commissioning completed on 25 March 2026

A custom copper rolling mill that we shipped to India in November 2025 has completed site commissioning and entered production. The work brought the mechanical equipment, electrical controls, plant utilities and operating procedures together as one production system. For the customer, this stage was not simply a machine start-up: it established the practical basis for operating, maintaining and supporting the line after handover.

From delivered equipment to an operating production line

Commissioning began with the interfaces that determine whether the mill can run consistently. The site team checked equipment positioning and alignment, drive rotation, lubrication, cooling-water connections, electrical interlocks and control signals before progressing to coordinated operation. These checks are carried out in sequence so that individual adjustments can be completed without masking issues elsewhere in the line.

Once the auxiliary systems and mill sections were ready, the team moved through controlled running and production trials. Rolling behaviour, material guidance, speed coordination and collection were observed together, because a stable result depends on the relationship between the sections rather than on any single machine. Operating parameters were then refined around the customer’s actual material route and site conditions.

A practical handover for production and maintenance teams

Operator involvement formed an important part of the site work. The customer’s team reviewed start-up and shutdown sequences, routine inspection points, alarm handling and the adjustments used during normal production. Maintenance discussions covered lubrication, wear parts, access points and the information our engineers need when remote support is requested.

Commissioning also provides feedback that cannot be reproduced fully before shipment. Foundation conditions, utility stability, upstream material preparation and downstream handling all influence the final operating window. Recording these observations gives both teams a clearer reference for future production adjustments, maintenance planning and spare-parts decisions.

For new copper rolling projects, we recommend defining the input material, finished dimensions, target output, available utilities and plant layout before selecting a mill configuration. Our engineering team can then review the complete production route and identify the equipment interfaces that need to be resolved before manufacture and installation.
